Wind and Water
Back at the hostel I spent a lazy morning getting ready. It was rainy and windy outside so it was not inviting. Around 10 we put our bags in the storage room and headed to the center of the main part of the town.
We went up I'm the tower of the church in the center square. From there you can see all of the city. It was pretty cool. It was also very windy. We stayed up there and listened to the bells toll. Then descended down.
From there we walked down some of the main Shopping and tourists streets. There is a street that was painted with a rainbow and there were lots of shops along the way.
We made it to the Icelandic Phallic Museum. It houses over 200 members of various species on the planet. It is filled with lots of facts and other weird things. It was interesting and fun to say we did but I don't think I would go back.
After that we walked the shore line. We passed the opera house and saw the Voyager statue that was on the banks. There was snow on the opposite mountain. The winds were up to 34+ mile hour winds and it rained and snowed.
We hung out the hostel for a while. For lunch we walked to the hotdog cart we found the other day. We got traditional icelandic lamb hotdogs. They were really good. Then walked back to the hostel.
We waited around for a while then caught the bus to the Blue Lagoon. It was expensive but fun to go to. We spent many hours there. We wandered around, sat under the falls, drank strawberry wine, and enjoyed the warm waters. It was nice. The water is a pretty blue and was not super crowded.
Later in the evening we caught the bus back to the hostel. Time for laundry and dinner. Tomorrow is on for another adventure. I am hopeful for some sleep tonight and an uneventful hostel stay.
